X-rays are an important tool in the diagnosis of dental diseases. Regular dental x-rays enable us to determine whether problems to the teeth and surrounding structures are developing. Digital technology has reached the world of radiography. Digital radiography systems enable an image to be taken with approximately 90% less x-radiation. The x-ray image will appear on a computer monitor allowing easier communication and visualisation of the specific problem.

Also available at Park Street Dental is digital OPG. An OPG is a panoramic x-ray depicting the upper and lower teeth, the upper and lower jaws, the sinuses, and the TMJs (jaw joints). Previously done at an outside radiological centre, patients now have the convenience of having an OPG taken at Park Street Dental and viewed in a few moments. OPG radiographs are an important tool in treatment planning and generally advised for all new patients.
