Dental Implants

Dental implants are titanium fixtures placed into the bone in order to replace a missing tooth, or several missing teeth. Titanium and bone integrate, forming a strong and secure platform to attach crowns or bridges. The advantage a dental implant has over the traditional bridge, is that neighbouring teeth are not prepared for support.

Dental implants also have the ability to replace complete dental arches, that would otherwise be replaced with a full denture. Unfortunately, patients with full dentures, that are supported solely by the soft tissues, cannot enjoy a complete diet that the average person takes for granted. This is especially the case with a full lower denture. Often a patient will need to use denture adhesive creams to increase the stability of their denture. These can be messy, annoying, and not ideal. Dental implants can restore the ability to eat whatever one likes, without the need to resort to these adhesives.

Implant-retained crowns and bridges appear and function like natural teeth, offering an increased degree of security and confidence. Patients can smile, talk, and eat, secure in the knowledge that their new restorations are permanently fixed.
This technology is the closest we have to replacing natural teeth.
